Grant Applications

The de la Motte Trust, awards grants to community organisations meeting both immediate as well as long-term needs within the Australian (in particular Victorian) community, across a number of key areas. The trust has a focus of supporting sustainable projects that assist groups in supporting health and wellbeing (with a focus on garden initiatives) and education.

Grant requirements

de la Motte trust may only give grants to eligible charitable organisations that fulfil the following requirements:

  • They are charitable at law;

  • They have the Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status – provision for gift deductibility must be under Item 1, or they must be specifically named as a DGR in Subdivision 30-15 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997;

  • They are endorsed as Tax Concession Charity (TCC).

When applying, all organisations must supply copies of the relevant documents with each application. Note: print-outs from the ABN Lookup website are not sufficient to prove eligibility.

Additional requirements:

1. It needs to be perpetual ie, not a one-off / one day event etc

2. To be awarded to either a charity or not-for-profit organization

3. The garden is to be for group utilization (not individual)

4. It needs to be sustainable, so that the risk of becoming run down and unused is minimized

5. The project needs to be completed within six months where possible.

6. The project is not to require recurrent large funding to exist

7. Not to be used for religious or political purposes

8. Not to be used for normal administration / operational funding purposes nor budget deficits

9. The Grant will not fund retrospectively (ie after the project has taken place)

10. A plaque needs to be provided and visible at the location. (It can be on the structure or on a fixture in the garden or on a “sponsors” board, etc)

11. The Grant is conditional upon the money being used solely for the purpose specified in the application.

12. Proof of utilisation of funds for the project as specified and advice concerning completion need to be submitted upon completion.
